Abstract
Abstract:
The doctrinal rectification is one of the focal issues in the Qur’anic reform initiative. This study aims at exploring the objective of doctrinal reform of the Qur’an and its impact on human identity and moral and social development. The Qur’an sets several objectives for doctrinal reform and emphasizes its role in the ultimate objective of the divine guidance for humankind. Despite the importance of faith objectives and their significant role in the spiritual and social development of the individuals less attention is drawn toward it in academic circles while on the other hand the Sharia’s objectives always remain a central focus in academia although the former is more important than the later as proper faith serves a foundation upon which a correct understanding of Shari’ah ruling is build.
Through textual-content analysis and hermeneutical approach this article attempts to fill the existing gap. A textual selection of the verses related to doctrinal objectives of the Qur’an is made and their impact on the human moral behavior is analyzed. A strong relation is found between faith and the higher Qur’anic objectives as well as their positive role in the wellbeing of humankind. Some recommendations are made based on the study outcomes emphasizing the impact of the faith objectives on the spiritual and social wellbeing of the humankind.
