Abstract
This research investigates the hadiths that Al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab classified as defective (Mu‘all) on the basis of discrepancies between connected (Mawsul) and disconnected (Mursal) chains of transmission in his book “Jami‘ Al-‘Ulum Wa Al-Hikam”, the renowned commentary on Al-Nawawi’s Forty Hadiths. In recognition of Ibn Rajab’s eminent standing in the science of hadith defects, the study begins with a concise biographical overview of the author. It then proceeds in two treaties: the first examines hadiths exhibiting two discrepant modes of transmission, while the second analyzes hadiths transmitted through three or more discrepant modes.
