Abstract

This study aimed to examine the implications of generative artificial intelligence technologies on the translator’s subjectivity, and to clarify their impact on shaping stylistic imprint, professional competence, and creative identity. The study adopted both descriptive and comparative approaches by employing a culturally rich historical text and conducting a comparison between a professional human translation and a generative machine-produced one. The findings revealed that generative AI contributes efficiently and effectively to accelerating the translation process and providing multiple alternatives; however, it still faces clear challenges in conveying precise cultural contexts and nuances. This often results in texts that are formulaic and lacking in expressive depth and human sensitivity. The study recommends utilizing artificial intelligence as a supportive tool, while emphasizing the necessity of critical human intervention to ensure the quality and uniqueness of the translated text.
