This research aims to uncover an aspect of Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya's jurisprudential criticism, by examining the tools he employed in his critique of the opinions in his valuable book, "I'lam al-Muwaqqi'in 'an Rabb al-'Alamin."

He proceeded to introduce the definition of jurisprudential criticism, and three topics; the first of which was devoted to the transmitted tools that Ibn al-Qayyim employed in his criticisms, the second of which was devoted to the rational tools that he used in his criticisms, while the third of which was devoted to the cognitive tools that he used in his criticisms. Using the inductive and analytical approach, we concluded that the jurisprudential criticism of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya is based on principles considered by those who prefer different opinions. These principles were diverse in his view, as he combined transmitted, rational, and cognitive tools. He used them well in accordance with their principles, and achieved his goal with them with wonderful success.
