Abstract

This study aims to identify and examine the dialogical question–answer passages (fanqalāt) employed by al-Sakhāwī in his commentary on Sūrat al-Nūr, as presented in his work Tafsīr al-Qurʾān al-ʿAẓīm. It seeks to analyze these passages in order to elucidate his methodological approach to formulating scholarly and linguistic problems and resolving them. The study further undertakes a comparative assessment of his exegetical positions in relation to those of other Qurʾanic commentators, with the aim of delineating the features of his interpretive choices and the distinctive nature of his exegetical perspective.
